The 105mm L118 light towed howitzer was designed by the British in 1968 to replace the M1 howitzer. Serial production started in 1974. These types of guns were used by the British army in the wars in the Falklands, Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2002, the L118 was equipped with a modern APS system that relies on satellite data and can fire the L118 battery automatically. Light metal alloys were widely used in the L118, which led to a significant reduction in the weight of the gun. Thanks to this, it is possible to transport the howitzer by air by a Puma helicopter. The L118 turned out to be very durable and capable of firing continuous fire for a long time. The American version of the L118 is the M119 howitzer. Technical data: range: 17200 m, caliber: 105 mm, combat weight: 1860 kg, rate of fire: up to 8 rounds / min, initial velocity of the projectile: 708 m / s.
