The M1 Abrams is a modern 3rd generation American Main Battle Tank. The first prototypes of the vehicle were created in the 1970s, and serial production started in 1979 continues to this day. To date (2018), about 10500 tanks of this type have been produced. The M1 Abrams is powered by a turbo-shaft (turbine) engine Avco Lycoming AGT-1500C 1500 hp. The vehicle is armed with a 105mm M68A1 tank gun in the M1 version, and a 120mm M256 tank gun in the M1A1 and later versions. The additional armament is 1 12.7 mm machine gun and 2 7.62 mm M240 machine guns.

The M1 Abrams was created in response to the demand for a new Main Battle Tank announced by US Army already in the 60s of the twentieth century. The new vehicle was to replace the Patton family tanks (M47-M48-M60) in the US Army. Initially, cooperation with German companies was initiated in the project designated as MBT-70. However, after a few years, the cooperation was terminated and further work was focused only on American companies, especially in the Chrysler Defense concern. Despite a very long process of analytical, study and experimental work lasting almost 15 years, it was introduced to the line in the early 1980s M1 Abrams It turned out to be an almost revolutionary structure and far superior to the then Soviet ones. M1 Abrams It is primarily characterized by unprecedented - before 1979 - in tanks of this class, mobility and maneuverability, thanks to the use of a powerful 1500 HP engine. Another thing is that the choice of the turbine engine turned out to be not very successful because it requires very careful maintenance and is prone to catching fire. M1 Abrams it also has very good armor, using composites and SKO (fire control system). In the M1A1 version, it was also armed with a great 120mm gun. Several versions of the tank were created in the course of serial production M1 Abrams. The first significant improvements were made to the M1A1 version, the production of which was launched in 1985 - mainly by using a much more effective 120 caliber cannon instead of the 105mm gun. In 1992, the M1A2 version entered the line, with much richer electronic equipment than previous versions and armor using depleted uranium. Then came the M1A2 SEP version with even more perfect armor. The last development versions of the Abrams tank are the M1A2 SEPv2 and M1A2 SEPv3 versions, which have advanced information exchange, battlefield control, fire control systems and improved secondary weapon control systems. The M1 Abrams tank was exported to several countries, including: Saudi Arabia, Australia, Egypt and Kuwait. Vehicles of this type took part in several operations, the most important of which were the Gulf War in 1990-1991 and the Iraq War in 2003.

The T-62 is a Soviet Main Battle Tank, the so-called 2nd generation from the Cold War and modern times. The first prototypes of this vehicle were built in the late 1950s, and it entered service in 1961, although it was first presented to the public in 1965. Probably about 20,000 vehicles of this type were produced during the series production! The combat weight of the tank was 37-40 tons. The drive was provided by a single W-55 engine with a capacity of 580 HP. The primary armament was the 115mm 2A20 smoothbore gun, and the secondary armament consisted of a 7.62mm PKT machine gun and a 12.7mm DSzK machine gun.

The T-62 tank was a kind of supplement to the line and a technological successor to the T-54 / T-55 family vehicles. It is also worth adding that despite the external similarity, it did not constitute their simple, evolutionary development. The main change in relation to the T-62 was the introduction of a completely new cannon with a larger caliber, and moreover a smoothbore cannon, which was a phenomenon on a global scale at the time! The use of such a cannon, along with new types of anti-tank ammunition, made the T-62 capable of destroying any NATO tank, including the Centurion and M48 Patton vehicles, without any problems when it was put into service. However, it was not without flaws - above all, it was characterized by average maneuverability and driving dynamics, as well as a low rate of fire of the main armament. In the course of production, several variants of this tank were created, among them: T-62K (command vehicle), T-62D (tank with Drozd active defense system) or T-62D-1 (tank with W-46-5M engine). The vehicle was also widely exported and licensed in many countries around the world. It was used in combat in many armed conflicts after 1945, including the war in Afghanistan (1979-1989), the Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988) and the war in the Persian Gulf (1990-1991).

The AH-1 Cobra helicopter (Bell 209) is an attack helicopter in the classic layout, using many components of its "big brother" UH-1 Huey. The first flight of the AH-1 prototype took place on September 7, 1965 and the helicopter entered mass production in the same year. During the Vietnam War, 1,126 machines of the G model were produced, of which 279 were lost in combat. Due to the very high reliability of the structure, small side profile and good performance, the helicopter remains in service to this day in the US Marine Corps. The AH-1 allowed the US Army to fully implement the theoretical assumption of airmobile infantry ("air cavalry") through the fire support of landing infantry units. Today, the AH-1 Cobra is primarily used against an armored celon. From 1965, several versions of this successful helicopter were created, including: AH-1G (basic version), AH-1J (two-engine version), AH-1Q (version armed with TOW missiles). Technical data: Top speed: 333 km / h; maximum range (depending on version): 507-574km, armament: fixed-1 20mm M197 three-barrel cannon, slung rockets, guided missiles, unguided missiles and cannon pods.

The Mil Mi-24 (NATO code: Hind) was a heavy Soviet-made combat helicopter with a full metal, half-shell structure, with a retractable landing gear, in a classic layout with a main rotor and a tail rotor on the beam. The drive was provided by two turboshaft engines TW-3-177MT of various models, each with a capacity of 2200 HP. The first prototype flew in September 1969, and serial production lasted from 1970 to 1983. The main impulse for the development of the Mi-24 were the new tactical and operational assumptions of the Soviet Army, which began to put great emphasis on the use of attack combat helicopters in its offensive operations in the late 1960s. Originally, the Mi-8 performed well in this role, but based on its components, it was decided to create a heavily armed helicopter, faster and still capable of carrying up to 8-10 landing troops. This is how the Mi-24 was born - a machine that is revolutionary in its own way, unique in its concept and when it was put into service (early 1970s), outclassing all Western designs. A lot of modernization of the basic version (Mi-24) was created. The first chronologically was the version of the Mi-24A, in which the ergonomics of the machine was improved and more powerful engines were added. Later, the Mi-24D model was developed, which had a different cabin shape already in a tandem arrangement and a different arrangement of the tail rotor. An export version was also created, called the Mi-35. The very successful Mi-24 was widely exported to the Warsaw Pact countries, but also to Libya and Ethiopia, for example. Mi-24 helicopters took part in numerous armed conflicts, including: during the Vietnamese intervention in Cambodia, but most of all in the war in Afghanistan (1979-1989), where the Mi-24 became the "workhorse" of the Soviet troops, at the same time, high efficiency. The Mujahideen have nicknamed the Mi-24 helicopters "the devil's chariot."
