RS Models 92038 Japanese IIWW fighter Tachikawa Ki-94II "Home Defense"

The Tachikawa Ki-94 II was a Japanese low-wing prototype all-metal fighter from the Second World War. The drive was to be provided by a single engine Nakajima Ha-219 I Ru with a power of 2,450 hp. The prototype flight was supposed to take place in August 1945, but it never happened. The on-board serial armament was to consist of two 30mm Ho-105 cannons and two 20mm Ho-5 cannons.

Work on the Ki-94 aircraft began as early as 1942, when the Air Force Command became aware of the possible danger to Japan from strategic air strikes by American bombers. The Tachikawa plant initially planned to create a very avant-garde structure with many technological innovations (designation: Ki-94-I), but military decision-makers considered this project not promising and too risky at the end of 1943. At that time, the Tachikawa company redesigned the plane and made it a much more classic structure (designation: Ki-94-II). This design was approved, but work on it was prolonged and the first Ki-94-II was finally ready only in mid-1945. Due to the short-term end of World War II, the machine was never tested or entered into serial production.
