Heller 81076 Laubie (ex U766)

Laubie (S610) was a German and later French submarine from World War II and the post-war period. The keel was laid for this unit in 1941, the launch took place in May 1943, and the entry into service - in July of the same year. The overall length of the ship was 67.1 meters and a width of 6.2 meters. Underwater displacement oscillated around 870 tons, and the maximum underwater speed reached 7-8 knots. The ship was equipped - at the time of launching - with 5 533 mm torpedo tubes and a single 88 mm gun. Laubie, originally called U-766, was built for the German Kriegsmarine at the Wilhelmshaven shipyard. The U-766 belonged to the VIIC U-boat class. In the course of service under the German flag, the ship carried out five combat patrols in 1944, but did not sink any enemy ships or ships in their course. The unit was stationed in La Rochelle from August 1944 and surrendered in May 1945. After the war, the unit changed its name (just to Lauba) and was incorporated into the French Marine Nationale in 1946. Laube took part in an operation related to the Suez Crisis in 1956. Five years later, the ship was decommissioned and soon scrapped.
