The ATV Jules Verne (another name: Automatic Transfer Ship No. 1 or ATV-001) is an unmanned, automatic, space transport ship developed with the participation of, among others, the European Space Agency, EADS Atrium and Thales Alenia Space. The total weight of the ship was about 20 tons, and the cargo weight did not exceed 2.3 tons. The ship was launched into space in March 2008 using an Ariene 5 ES launcher, and its destination was the International Space Station (ISS). The launch of the ship was carried out from the Guiana Space Center in French Guiana. It reached the point at the beginning of August of the same year, and the ship's mission was completed in September 2008. It is worth noting that the ISS supply missions were continued in 2011 and 2012 by twin vessels similar to the ATV Jules Verne.
