ORP Iskra was a Dutch, British and finally Polish sailing training ship. The unit was commissioned in 1917. The total length of the ship at the time of launching was 50.7 meters and a width of 7.9 meters. The displacement reached approx. 500 tons. The unit did not have permanent armament. ORP Iskra, under the name Vlissingen, first served in the Dutch Navy, and then in the years 1925-1926 in the Royal Navy, but in 1926 it was acquired for the Polish Navy. After the purchase, it was also rebuilt in Poland for the needs of the training ship. It entered service under the Polish flag in 1928. In the period 1928-1939, ORP Iskra made numerous school cruises - mainly in the Baltic Sea, but also in the Mediterranean and to the USA. At the outbreak of World War II, ORP Iskra was in the Mediterranean Sea. Until the fall of France in the summer of 1940, she was stationed in Morocco and later transferred to Gibraltar. From 1948, it was again in Polish waters, continuing to carry out its tasks until 1974. The unit was decommissioned in 1977.
