The Vierendehlgrund lighthouse (colloquial name Gruba Berta - German Dicken Berta) was built in 1909 and it was put into operation in the same year. The lighthouse was located on the island of Barhotft in the Baltic Sea, north of the city of Stralsund. The lighthouse tower was 11.95 meters high, and the diameter of the lighthouse at the base was 5.9 meters. It is worth adding that the lighthouse was placed on a solid, granite base. The lighthouse happily survived both world wars and carried out its tasks until 1983, when it was dismantled. Interestingly, however, shortly thereafter, the elements of the lighthouse were modernized and restored, and finally in 2007 the lighthouse was erected as a mainly tourist attraction at the City Museum in Fürstenwalder.
