It is assumed that at the turn of the 12th and 13th centuries, and therefore at the time of the partition of the Polish state, in the area of today's Boronowa (today's ¦l±skie Voivodeship) there was a well-fortified defensive city. Most likely, the fortifications were on an artificial hill surrounded on three sides by the waters of a small lake nearby. Probably only one gate led to the stronghold. Considering the marshy, and perhaps swampy in the Middle Ages, the area in the immediate vicinity of the stronghold had very good defensive conditions. It is also assumed that the structure was made entirely of wood and earth. There are also many indications that the fortified stronghold in Boronów was destroyed in the 40s of the 13th century, perhaps during the Mongol invasion, which culminated in the Battle of Legnica (1241) and the death of Prince Henry the Pious there. It is correct to add that it is currently located on the site of the stronghold in question Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of the Holy Rosary, erected - as it is today - at the beginning of the 17th century.
