The Kamow Ka-26 (NATO code: Hoodlum) was a Soviet light, two-seat, multi-role, light all-metal helicopter with a fixed, three-support undercarriage in a rare coaxial twin-rotor arrangement. The drive was provided by two M-14-V-26 radial motors, 325 HP each. The flight of the first prototype took place in August 1965, and serial production continued in the period 1969-1985, ending with the production of about 800-900 copies. Ka-26 was created primarily for civilian purposes, with particular emphasis on agricultural purposes (large-area spraying), and the basic version, designated Ka-26A, was dedicated to this purpose. The only, more widely produced development version was the Ka-26B, which was powered by a single 720 HP engine. The first prototype took to the air in 1986. Interestingly, this version was developed in Romania, ending up with the creation of 2 prototypes and 15 serial copies. The successful and not very emergency Ka-26 was exported to several countries, including Bulgaria, Mongolia, Hungary and Sri-Lanka.
