Land Forces of the Kingdom of Serbia, i.e. the Royal Serbian Army Royal Serbian Army) were formed in 1882 and operated until 1918. It was also on them that the main burden of the war against the attack of the Central Powers - mainly by Austria-Hungary - which began on July 28, 1914 and which also began military operations in World War I, rested on them. Serbian land forces, whose core was made up of conscripted infantry, joined the war divided into 3 armies: the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Army and the Uzhice army group. The key of them was the 1st Army, which consisted of a cavalry division, three infantry divisions, the so-called the Danube Division and the army artillery. Each of its infantry divisions consisted in turn of three regiments of infantry. It is worth adding that already in the 2nd Army, divisions consisted of four regiments. Serbian infantry in the course of World War I used several types of rifles, but the most widely used were Mauser-Kok rifles commonly known as "kokinka" and Mauser-Koka-Duriæ or Berdan II rifles, although the latter were used primarily in units of lower combat value . It is worth adding that although the Serbian army was clearly inferior to Austria-Hungary in terms of technical and human potential, it put up a valiant resistance and fought a defensive campaign until 1915, at its peak having as many as 420,000 under arms. people! Moreover, she was able to win battles - examples include the battles at Cerem and the bloody battle of Kolubara.
