Eduard 648549 ALARM missiles

ALARM (full name: Air Launched Anti-Radiation Missile) is a modern British air-to-ground missile designed to counter radar stations. Its first prototypes appeared in the early 1980s, and its production started in 1986. ALARM is a solid fuel-propelled missile with a range of up to 93 kilometers, capable of carrying a warhead weighing up to 100 kg, and its total mass up to approx. 265 kg.

The ALARM was developed for the needs of the British Air Force (RAF). Its manufacturer in the 1980s and 1990s was the BAE Dynamics concern, and currently MBDA, or more precisely its British subsidiary, is responsible for its production. ALARM is a fire-ang-forgot missile that can operate in as many as five modes of operation, one of which is direct and four is indirect. It is thanks to such a multitude of modes of operation that the presented missile is perceived as a highly effective weapon. The missile was used in combat during the First and Second Gulf Wars (1990-1991 and 2003), as well as during operations in Kosovo (1999), Libya (2011) and during the Saudi operation in Yemen (from 2015). The missile can be carried primarily by PANAVIA Torano GR.4 and F3 airplanes. It is worth adding that it was officially withdrawn from the RAF line in 2013, but its stocks are believed to be permanently in British Air Force warehouses.
