DISCONTINUED Eduard 648449 AN/AVQ-26 PAVE Tack pod for F-4

AN / AVQ-26 Pave Tack is an American airborne electronic-optical sight cartridge from the post-war period. The length of the container was 4.22 meters with a weight of 629 kilograms. The development of the device began in the 1970s, and its first units entered the line in 1982. The Pave Tack cartridge was developed and manufactured by the Ford Aerospace concern and was dedicated - primarily, but not only - to the guidance of precision bombs from the Paveway family. It first completed and then began to replace the AN / AVQ-10 Pave Knife trays. It differed from them much more perfect laser target indicator, the use of FLIR camera (enabling observation in infrared), as well as having a video recorder. It was also less susceptible to the effects of weather conditions. The container was carried mainly by the F-4 Phantom II and F-111F Aardvark planes. These types of containers were first used on a larger scale during the air attacks on Libya in 1986 and during the Gulf War of 1990-1991.
