Eastern Express 35005 ASU-57

The first prototypes of the ASU-57 self-propelled gun were created in 1951. Serial production started in the mid-1950s and lasted only until 1962. Most likely, the ASU-57 was withdrawn from service in the Soviet Army around 1975. The ASU-57 was powered by a single carburetor engine with only 50 HP. The basic armament of the vehicle is the 57mm H-51 or H-51M gun. and 1 PKT machine gun cal .: 7.62 mm. The self-propelled gun was developed specifically for Soviet airborne troops to provide them with elemental anti-tank defense shortly after dropping off. The ASU-57 was therefore adapted to parachute discharge, which forced the vehicle to be light (less than 3.5 tons!) And its armor very weak. Aluminum was also used as the main construction material and the crew's combat compartment completely open at the top and rear, which made it impossible to use the ASU-57 in the conditions of the use of mass destructions. Due to its very high specialization and average ability to combat armored targets, the ASU-57 was not exported.
