The USS Card (CVE-11, later ACV-11) was an American escort aircraft carrier laid down in October 1941, launched in February 1942, and commissioned in the US Navy in November 1942. The length of the ship - at the time of admission to the navy - was 151 m, width approx. 21.2 m, and displacement - approx. 9,950 tons. The maximum speed was up to 16.5 knots, and the on-board armament took on various configurations during World War II, but it can be assumed that it consisted of 2 127 mm guns, 2 40 mm Bofors and 35 20 Oerlikon cannons. mm. The main armament of the unit consisted of 28 on-board aircraft.

The USS Card was one of 45 Bogue-class escort carriers that served extensively with the US Navy and the British Royal Navy during World War II. Virtually all ships of this class were built on the basis of the American large C3 type transport ships. It is worth adding that the lion's share of them was launched by the Seattle-Tacoma Shipbuilding Corporation. Similar to the presented USS Card (CVE-11). This aircraft carrier began its combat career by transporting planes from New York to Casablanca, a task it carried out from the first half of 1943. Since summer this year, it has been operating in the Atlantic against German submarines as part of the TG 21.14 team - in the course of these actions, the crew of the unit managed to sink 8 U-boats! It remained in the Atlantic Ocean until the turn of 1944/1945. At the beginning of 1945, he was transferred to the Pacific, but did not take much part in combat operations. Instead, it carries out tasks related to Magic Carpet operations. It was in reserve from 1946 to 1958, and returned to service as USN Card in 1958 as an aircraft transporter. He took a small part in the first phase of the Vietnam War (1964 / 1965-1975). In the course of his combat operations, he was awarded the Battle Star three times, and once he was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation.
