The Bofors Mk110 57mm is a modern American 57mm naval gun. The weapon (under the designation: Mark 110 Mod 0 57mm gun) entered production in the USA in 2005. From the same year, the defense concern BAE Systems, in cooperation with General Dynamics plants, was responsible for the development and production of this gun. The cannon was used by the USS Freedom, USS Zumwalt and several US Coast Guard units. The total weight of the cannon is approximately 14 tons, and its barrel is 3.99 meters long. The initial velocity of the missiles is up to 1035 m / s. The gun fires projectiles with a total mass of up to 6.1 kilograms, and its maximum firing range is approximately 17,000 meters, with the effective firing range being approximately 8,500 meters. The maximum theoretical rate of fire for this gun is enormous, reaching 220 rounds per minute! What's more, the cannon is capable of firing programmable ammunition with six different modes. It is worth noting that the presented gun is in fact a minimally modernized version of the Bofors 57 mm Mark 3 sea gun, which entered the service of the Swedish Navy in 2000 with the introduction of Visby-type corvettes into service.
