Blue Impulse (Japanese in Latin transcription: Burū Inparusu) is an aerobatic team of the Japanese Air Self-Defense Forces, which was formed in 1960. Originally, the team consisted of only six F-86 aircraft. In 1980, the team began flying Mitsubishi T-2 planes, and since 1995 - Kawasaki T-4 aircraft. The team's home base is Matsushima Air Base. The roots of the Blue Impulse team go back to 1958, when the first unofficial team of aerobatics in the Japanese military aviation was established. The stimulus for its development was the visit to Japan in 1959 by an American team of this type called USAF Thunderbirds. The band's first major appearance was the opening of the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, followed by the opening of the Expo 70 exhibition in Osaka. The band gave their first show overseas in 1997 in the United States. A year later, he added splendor to the opening ceremony of the Winter Games in Nagano, and four years later (2002) - the opening ceremony of the World Football Championship. At present, the team includes 11 Kawasaki T-4 aircraft, with two machines being treated as backup.
