BR 64 (another designation: DRB 64) is a series of steam locomotives (steam locomotives) that were produced in the period 1928-1940. Production was carried out at the plants of a dozen or so companies in Germany. A total of 520 locomotives of this type were built. The service weight of a single locomotive was 74.9-75.2 tons, and its length - 12.4 m. The locomotive in Whyte's notation had a 2-6-2T system.
The BR 64 steam locomotives were designed on behalf of the German DRB railway lines (German: Deutsche Reichsbahn) as standard locomotives dedicated primarily to secondary connections. Tests of the new locomotive began in 1926, and production finally began two years later. Steam locomotives were used relatively intensively during World War II, and after its end, those that survived were used by West and East German railways. A certain number of BR 64 steam locomotives were also used in Austria and Poland. According to some sources, the last BR 64s were used in Germany until 1975.
