The Boeing T-43 was a twin-engine, American-made low-wing, all-metal training military aircraft. The drive was provided by two Pratt and Whitney JT8D-9A turbofan engines. A prototype flight took place in 1973, and serial production began shortly thereafter. In its course, only 19 aircraft of this type were built.
The Boeing T-43 was commissioned by the American Air Force, which at the end of the 1960s decided to replace their Convair T-29A navigator training aircraft with a completely new construction in the line. The Boeing concern, when commencing the execution of the order, decided to use the proven construction of the Bo 737-200 civil aircraft. The main changes were the complete redesign of the interior of the machine and the training of 12 navigators at the same time. The range of the machine was also increased, the on-board avionics was changed almost completely, the airframe structure was strengthened and the fuselage was redesigned to a minimal extent. In the course of service, only one aircraft of this type was lost in Croatia in 1996 - almost certainly as a result of a plane crash. Aircraft of this type served in the USAAF until 2010.
