RMS Mauritania was a British passenger ship (the so-called transatlantic liner) from the beginning of the 20th century, World War I and the interwar period. The keel for this unit was laid in 1904, and the launch took place in 1906. The unit was put into operation in November 1907. The total length of the ship was 232.3 meters and a width of 26.82 meters. The displacement was around 32,000 GRT and the maximum speed was around 26-27 knots.
RMS Mauretania was a sister unit to Lusitania and Aquitania. At the time of launch, it was the largest, fastest and most luxurious passenger ship in the world - until the launch of the Titanic and the Olympic. She was the first passenger ship powered by a steam turbine, and thanks to a specially designed hull, she could develop high speeds for this class of vessels. This resulted in RMS Mauritania winning the Blue Ribbon of the Atlantic several times. The unit operated mainly between New York and Great Britain. During World War I, the unit was used to transport soldiers, and periodically as a hospital ship. One of the most famous operations in which she took part was the landing on the Dardanelles. RMS Mauretania was decommissioned in 1934.
