The Rolls-Royce AE 2100 is a British-American turbo-prop engine from the Cold War and modern times. The engine was developed and was originally manufactured by the Allison Engine Company facilities which, however, are now owned by Rolls-Royce Corporation. In the AE 2100 D2 version, this motor is 3 meters long with a diameter of 0.73 meters. The "dry" weight of this type of engine does not exceed 783 kilograms. The engine in this version is capable of generating a maximum power of 4591 HP. The presented engine is in fact a modernization of the Allison AE 1107C-Liberty engine, which, however, uses some elements of the Rolls-Royce AE3007 turbofan engine. It uses an advanced electronic control system (FADEC) to control both the engine and the propeller. In total - to date - there are four versions of this engine: Rolls-Royce AE 2100D2 / D2A, AE 2100D3, AE 2100J and AE 2100P. The mentioned versions of this engine are used on such aircraft as, for example: Saab 2000, Alenia C-27J Spartan and especially Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules (engine version AE 2100D3).
