The Dongfeng-1 (abbreviated: DF-1, original designation: "1059") is a Chinese type of surface-to-ground missile from the Cold War period. The missile was powered by a single RD-101 liquid fuel rocket engine, and its maximum range did not exceed 550 kilometers. He could carry warheads weighing up to 500 kilograms. It is assumed that a small number of these missiles were produced in the 1960s in the PRC. In essence, the DF-1 is a license copy of the Soviet R-2 missile (NATO code: SS-2), which is classified as a Short Range Ballistic Missile (SRBM). In turn, the production of this missile in the PRC is the aftermath of the 1950 trade agreement between Moscow and Beijing, which included, among other things, supporting the Chinese armaments with Soviet experience and technical knowledge. It is also worth adding that although the DF-1 missile had a limited combat value, it initiated the Chinese ballistic missile development program that is being carried out to this day.
