Hobby Boss 80399 Chinese trainer-jet PLAAF Jian-Jiao 5 (JJ-5)

The Shenyang J-5 (another designation: Jian J-5) was a post-war Chinese-made fighter aircraft with an all-metal structure in a spine-wing configuration. The propulsion was provided by a single WP-5 or WP-5D turbojet engine. The first flight of this machine took place in 1955. Serial production started a year later and resulted in the creation of over 1,800 aircraft of this type. In the J-5A version, the on-board armament consisted of three 23 mm NR-23 cannons.

The Shenyang J-5 was the first mass-produced fighter jet in the PRC. In fact, it was a license version of the Soviet MiG-17F aircraft. Initially, the plane was assembled on the basis of components imported from the USSR, but already in 1956 a copy made entirely by Chinese industry forces took off. During serial production, several development versions of the Shenyang J-5 aircraft were created, for example: J-5 (basic production version), J-5A (a fighter capable of operating in all weather conditions), JJ-5 (training and combat version, produced until 1986!) and the F-5 (export version). The users of this type of aircraft were or are such countries as, for example, the PRC, North Korea, Albania, Bangladesh or Pakistan.
