Heller 81032 Duguay Trouin

The Duguay Trouin (D611) is a French missile destroyer classified in the French Navy as a Cold War frigate. The keel for the vessel was laid in 1971, the launch took place in 1973, and the ship entered service with the French Marine Nationale in 1975. The length of the ship was 152.75 meters, and the overall width was 15.8 meters. Full displacement reached 6,100 tons, and maximum speed - up to 32 knots. The armament of the ship consisted of, among others, 2 100 mm naval cannons, 2 20 mm cannons, a single 8-rail Naval Crotale anti-aircraft missile launcher and 6 MM-38 Exocet water-to-water rocket launchers. The unit was able to base two Westland Lynx helicopters.

The Duguay Trouin (D611) was the second ship of the Tourville destroyer class (F-67). Units of this type were created as enlarged Aconit-class frigates. Compared to its predecessors, it also received reinforced armament and gained the ability to operate on-board helicopters. Their performance has also been improved - especially the top speed. Units of this type were also built as specialized ZOP (anti-submarine) ships, which translated into their armament and electronic equipment. Often, units of this type are comparable to the early American Spruance-class units. Duguay Trouin (D611) was built at shipyards in the city of Lorient. He remained in the line until 1999.
