Ford G8TA is an American truck from World War II. The length of the wagon was approx. 9.54 m, with a width of approx. 2.25 m and a height of 2.6 m. The drive was provided by a single, 6-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 90 HP. The power transmission was provided by a manual gearbox with 4 forward gears and one reverse gear. The maximum speed did not exceed 80 km / h. With the outbreak of World War II in Europe, the US military authorities decided to put more emphasis on the production of trucks for the - future - expanding US Army. The ambitious plans were fully satisfied with a very well-developed industrial base with such market leaders as General Motors and Ford. One of the cars, designed primarily for the needs of the US Army, was the Ford G8TA, which was created as a modification of the Ford G8T, produced since 1941. By the way - the latter was transferred to the USSR in large quantities on the basis of the Lend-and-Lease agreement. The Ford G8TA car from its protoplast took the engine and most of the design solutions, but differed in the rear body compartment, which was adapted to towing heavy semi-trailers.
