The GAZ-M20 Pobieda is a Soviet passenger car that was first presented to the public in 1946. Its serial production started in the same year and lasted until 1958. About 236,000 copies of this car were produced during it. The car was produced by the GAZ plants based in Nizhny Novgorod.
The first works on the Pobieda car took place at the end of World War II, and their aim was to create a civilian passenger car to replace the GAZ M-1 cars. Compared to its predecessor, the new car differed primarily in design, which was completely different and followed the trends in this field of the time. The self-supporting body was also completely different, with much better aerodynamic properties than in the M-1 models. This body was structurally modeled on the solutions used in the Opel Kapitan. The drive was still a 50-52 HP engine, but with a much more modern design. It is worth noting that in the GAZ M20, as the first mass-produced car in the USSR, such amenities as a built-in radio, electric wipers, turn signals and independent front wheel suspension were used. The licensed production of GAZ-M20 Pobieda was carried out at FSO plants under the name of Warsaw.
