Eduard 53235 German WWII ensign flags STEEL

The Kriegsmarine, i.e. the German Navy during the Third Reich, was formed in May 1935 and from its very beginning, until the end of World War II, it used one main military flag. It showed a swastika (German Hakenkreuz) inscribed in a white circle from which the four black arms of the cross with a white dust jacket spread out. All of this was against a red background. Additionally, in the upper left corner of the flag there was an iron cross (German: Eisernes Kreuz), sometimes mistakenly identified with Balkenkreuz. However, apart from this main flag, numerous other flags were also used to symbolize, inter alia, what officer is on board a given unit. In this case, a white flag was always used with a black cross in the center on which there was, for example: a golden German eagle with a swastika in its claws and crossed maces (Grand Admiral's flag), crossed golden swords in the lower left corner (admiral flag) or a black circle in the left upper corner (flag of the Vice-Admiral).
