HMS Alexandra was a British linear armored ship with a steam-and-steam drive from the second half of the 19th century. The keel for this unit was laid in 1873, the launch took place in 1875, and the entry into service in the Royal Navy - in 1877. The total length of the ship was 105 meters and 19.4 meters wide. The displacement was around 9,500 tons and the maximum speed was around 15 knots. The deck armament, at the time of launching, consisted of, among others: 2 280 mm guns or 10 254 mm guns.
HMS Alexandra was built at Chatham Dockyard in Chatham. The unit was characterized by the location of the main artillery and a large part of medium-caliber artillery in a centrally located, non-rotating casemates. A quite similar design solution - in principle - was used, for example, on CSS Virginia. At the same time, efforts were made to provide HMS Alexander with the highest possible seaworthiness and the best possible armor. HMS Alexandra, shortly after entering service, was assigned to the Mediterranean Sea, where she remained until 1889. During this period, she took part in the bombing of Alexandria in 1882. Later, for a very long time (1891-1901), the unit underwent modernization and the necessary renovation works. Finally, the unit returned to service in 1903, but now as a training ship. She was decommissioned in 1908.
