Airfix 04213 HMS Tiger Daring Naval Set

HMS Tiger (C20) was a British Cold War cruiser. The keel for this unit was laid in 1941, the launch took place in October 1945, and the entry into service took place only in 1959! The total length of the ship at the time of launch was 169 meters and a width of 20 meters. Standard displacement reached approx. 11,500 tons, and the maximum speed was approx. 31-32 knots. The armament at the time of the launch consisted of, among others, four 152 mm guns or 6 76 mm guns.

HMS Tiger was one of the Tiger-class cruisers. The ships of this type were initially designed as minotaur-class cruisers, but in connection with the Battle of the Atlantic, escort units and units intended for anti-submarine warfare (ZOP) operations became a priority for the Royal Navy. The last three units of this type, however, were launched in 1944-1945, but with far-reaching changes in design, which in fact made them a new type, which was called the Tiger class. In the years 1966-1972 on HMS Tiger was being rebuilt with the addition of an air deck allowing the operation of four helicopters, as well as rocket launchers and new electronic equipment. In 1978, HMS Tiger was placed in reserve and sold for scrap in 1986.
