The Honda NS500 is a Japanese racing motorcycle that was first presented to the public in 1982 and raced from 1982 to 1983. It was developed to replace the very avant-garde but not very successful racing model NR500. Unlike its predecessor, it was powered by a 500cc 3-cylinder, two-valve per-cylinder engine. More traditional engine design, combined with high reliability, refined aerodynamics and very good traction properties made Frederick Spencer in 1983 become the world champion in the 500cc motorcycle class on this model. Despite considerable success and an overall high rating, the NS500 was replaced by the Honda NSR500 - an even more perfect model that made Honda a supremacy in motorcycle racing in the 1990s.
