Hawker Hurricane Mk. I, which was flown in 1935, was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin Mark II engine. This engine was one of the RR Merlin engine types that entered production at the turn of 1933/1934. In total, over 149,000 engines of this type of all versions were created! The Rolls-Royce Merlin Mark II, also sometimes called the Merlin G or RM1S, was a 12-cylinder star engine capable of generating a maximum power of 1,030hp at 5,500 rpm at an altitude of around 1,600 meters. He used 100 octane fuel as the fuel. However, its serial production started in August 1937. It is worth adding that compared to the previous version (Merlin F or Merlin I) it had a changed cylinder design, especially their heads. The Rolls-Royce Merlin Mark II engine was a power unit not only for the Hurricane Mk.I fighter, but also for machines such as Fairey Battle, Bolton Paul Defiant or Supermarine Spitfire Mark I.
