Toho Maru was a Japanese tanker whose keel was laid in May 1936, launched in October of the same year, and commissioned in December. At the time of launching, the ship was 153 m long, 20 m wide, and her displacement was 10,000 tons. The maximum speed was up to 19.5 knots. The armament was marginal and limited to a single 120mm gun.

The Toho Maru was built at the Kawasaki shipyard in Kobe for the civil service. However, in August 1941 he was confiscated and incorporated into the navy. By October of the same year, its reconstruction for military purposes was completed. Toho Maru indirectly took part in several important operations in the Pacific War - most notably the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and the Japanese raid on the Indian Ocean in April 1942. The tanker was sunk on March 29, 1943 by the American submarine USS Gudgeon.
