QF 6-inch 40 caliber naval gun Mark I is a naval gun from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, World War I and the interwar period, 152 mm caliber of British production. The gun was developed at the turn of the 1880s and 1890s, and entered service in 1892. The weapon was developed at the Elswick Ordnance Company facilities, and was manufactured both at those facilities and by Woolwich Arsenal, both for the Royal Navy and for export. The total weight of the 6-inch QF gun was 6.6 tons, and its barrel was 6.096 meters. The maximum rate of fire for this gun was 5-7 rounds per minute. The missiles were separately loaded and their total weight was up to 45 kilograms. These missiles had an initial velocity of up to approx. 660 m / s, and the effective range was from approx. 9,100 to approx. 13,500 meters. This cannon turned out to be a highly successful design with considerable development potential. For this reason, it was used not only by the Royal Navy, but also by the US, Italian and Japanese navies. In the case of the latter, it was used as additional armament for battleships such as, for example, Mikasa or Fuji, but also by armament mainly of a few armored cruisers.
BL 12-inch Mk IX (other markings: Armstrong Whitworth 12-inch naval gun and the 12-inch Mark IX) is a naval gun from the beginning of the 20th century, World War I and the interwar period, with a 305 mm caliber of British production. The gun was developed in 1898 and entered service in 1900. The weapon was developed at the Elswick Ordnance Company factories, and was manufactured both at these plants and by Vickers and Woolwich Arsenal. Its total weight was 50 tons, and its barrel was 12.32 meters long. It also fired projectiles with a maximum mass of up to 390 kilograms. These missiles had an initial velocity of 732 to 796 m / s, and the effective range reached 14,000 meters. This cannon was used primarily by the Japanese Navy and was the basic armament of several Japanese battleships, including such ships as Mikasa (the flagship of Adm. Togo in the Battle of Tsushima), Fuji and Asahi. It underwent its baptism of fire in Japanese service during the Battle of the Yellow Sea in 1904.
