Trumpeter 01322 Kawanishi Type 97 Japanese Maritimce Reconnaissance

The Kawanishi H6K is a Japanese, four-engine, long-range, metal structure flying boat in the high-wing shot-down system from the Second World War. The flight of the prototype took place on July 14, 1936, and the series production was launched a year later. The first mass-produced version was the H6K4 with Mitsubishi Kinsei 43 engines with a capacity of 1000 HP, 147 were made of this version, of which 20 were transport machines (designation H6K4-I). In 1942, a new version entered the line, marked as H6K5, with new Mitsubishi Kinsei 53 engines with 1,300 HP each and an armored cabin. These successful aircraft were slowly withdrawn from the line following the appearance of the Kawanishi H8K flying boat. The H6K served primarily in the Southwest Pacific, raiding Rabaul and the Dutch East Indies at the beginning of the war.
