RB-Model 35B99 Lufa 90 mm L/40,4 "KaJaPa"

The BK90 L / 40 is a West German anti-tank gun from the Cold War period, which is the main armament of the Kanonenjagdpanzer tank destroyer (other designation: Jagdpanzer Kanone 90mm). The cannon was developed and manufactured by the Rheinmetall concern. The length of its barrel was 40 calibers, or 360 centimeters. It can be assumed that the presented gun was quite a far-reaching development of the 90 mm M36 tank gun, which was the main armament of the M47 / 48 Patton vehicles, which was licensed in Germany. Compared to it, however, it had a slightly improved armor penetration, as well as an improved rate of fire. It was assumed that the BK90 L / 40 cannon would be capable of destroying Soviet T-54 / T-55 and T-62 MBTs. However, when the T-64 and T-72 vehicles entered service, the gun turned out to be unable to fight them, which in turn led to the conversion of parts of the Kanonenjagdpanzer with guided anti-tank missiles.
