Italian anti-aircraft gun sea 90 mm / 50 Model 1938-1939 90 mm caliber was developed shortly before the outbreak of World War II, and entered service in the Regia Marina in 1940. The maximum range of this weapon was estimated at approx. 13,000 meters with the barrel raised 45 degrees. The practical rate of fire was up to 10-12 rounds per minute. It is worth adding that the barrel length of this gun was 50 calibers, i.e. 4.5 meters. Italian anti-aircraft gun sea 90 mm / 50 Model 1938-1939 90 mm caliber was developed at Ansaldo for the Italian Regia Marina. The weapon was to provide anti-aircraft cover at medium and - to a lesser extent - at short distances. Undoubtedly, its ballistic parameters should be assessed very highly, and the rate of fire, compared to other guns with similar calibers, was also good, and maybe even very good. On the other hand, a considerable disadvantage was the overly complicated gun stabilization system, which in practice turned out to be defective and highly emergency, which significantly reduced the gun's combat capabilities. The 90 mm / 50 Model 1938-1939 gun was used, among others, on Littorio-class battleships (also known as Vittorio Veneto).
