Italian cannon sea 152 mm / 55 Model 1934-1936 caliber 152 mm was developed in the early 1930s, and entered service in the Regia Marina in 1934. The initial velocity of the shell fired from this gun was up to approx. 910 m / s. The maximum range of this weapon was estimated at approx. 25,700 meters, and the practical rate of fire, with a well-trained crew, at 4-5 shots per minute. It is worth adding that the barrel length of this gun was 55 calibers, i.e. 8.36 meters. Italian cannon sea 152 mm / 55 Model 1934-1936 caliber 152 mm was developed at Ansaldo (mod. 1934) and OTO Melara (mod. 1936). It was a significant improvement compared to the gun of the same caliber used in the Regia Marina (152 mm / 53 Model 1926–1929) in such areas as ballistic parameters, weapon accuracy and functionality. 152 mm / 55 naval cannons were mounted as primary armament on Duca degli Abruzzi-class light cruisers and as secondary armament on Littorio-class battleships (also known as Vittorio Veneto). It is worth adding that this type of cannons were mounted in turrets of two or three guns.
