German cannon Sea 15 cm SK L / 45 caliber 149.1 mm was developed in 1906 and remained in service in the period 1908-1945. The initial velocity of the shell fired from this gun was up to 840 m / s. The gun was capable of firing a projectile weighing up to 45.3 kilograms over a maximum distance of 13.5 to 17.6 kilometers, depending on the gun version. It is worth adding that the barrel length of this gun was 45 calibers, i.e. 6.71 meters. German cannon Sea 15 cm SK L / 45 caliber 149.1 mm was developed at the Krupp plant for the German Kaiserliche Marine, as an additional weapon for German battleships (e.g. Derfflinger-class battleships or Bayern-class battleships) and the main armament of cruisers of such classes as, for example, Bremen or Graudenz. The weapon was also used on a series of two Brummer miners. The weapons were placed either in casemates or in partially closed cannon towers. It is worth adding that during World War II the 15 cm SK L / 45 gun was often used as coastal artillery, but also on Kriegsmarine auxiliary cruisers.
