The Mark 118 bomb (another designation: M118) is an American, general-purpose free-fall fragmentation bomb from the Cold War and modern times. The nominal weight of the weapon is 3,000 pounds (approximately 1,400 kg), with the explosive weight not exceeding 900 kilograms. This charge is a tritonal charge composed of TNT and aluminum powder. The presented bomb was one of the most widely used aerial bombs by the USAF during the Korean War (1950-1953) and the Vietnam War (1964 / 1965-1975). It was carried by machines such as: F-100 Super Saber, F-105 Thunderchief or F-4 Phantom. The presented bomb still remains in the arsenal of the US Air Force, but it is currently used very rarely. It is worth adding, however, that the M118 bomb was one of the key elements that was used to develop the GBU-11 Paveway I guided bomb.
