Dragon 6798 M6 Heavy Tank

The M6 was an American heavy tank from the Second World War. The first prototypes were built in 1941, and serial production was carried out in the period 1941-1942. In total, only 80 examples of this vehicle were built. The M6 was powered by a single carburetor engine Wright G-200 with 825 hp . It was armed with a single 76mm M7 cannon and a single 37mm M6 cannon in the turret, 2 Browning M1919A4 7.62mm machine guns and 2 Browning M2 12.7mm machine guns.

The command of the US Army, observing the development of armored weapons in Europe, commissioned design work on a new heavy tank for the US Army in 1939. The vehicle was originally intended to be armed with a 75mm gun, but this requirement was later changed to a 76mm gun with better anti-tank properties. It is true that the M6 entered mass production, but in 1942 it was completely abandoned in favor of the production of M3 Lee medium tanks, and later the M4 Sherman. However, the produced copies of the M6 tank were used for tests and experiments, e.g. with new weapons. The experience gained during the development of the M6 was instrumental in the development of the M26 Pershing. The M6 heavy tank did not take part in combat operations during World War II.
