General Electric T64 is a turbo-shaft engine from the Cold War period and modern times of American production. The first successful engine start-up took place in 1959, and serial production started shortly thereafter. In the T-64-GE-100 version, the engine measures approximately 201 cm in length with a diameter of 50.8 cm. The weight of the "dry" engine is 327 kilograms. The maximum power generated by the T-64-GE-100 version reaches 4,330 HP. The engine was initially developed primarily for helicopters, but in the course of production it was also mounted on airplanes. When it was put into production (in 1964), it contained many innovations, such as corrosion-resistant and high-temperature coatings. The engine was characterized not only by relatively high generated maximum power, but also low - for its time - fuel consumption. It is worth adding that it uses some structural elements from the GE T58 engine. The engine was used on such aircraft as: Lockheed AH-56 Cheyenne, Alenia G.222, Sikorsky CH-53 Sea Stallion and CH-53E Super Stallion.
