The Martin-Baker Mk.2 was a British-made ejection seat that was introduced in the early 1950s. The official website of the manufacturer states that it was used for the first time on July 15, 1952. For the chair to work effectively, the pilot's weight had to be from about 70 to about 102 kilograms. The Martin-Baker Mk.2 armchair was developed as a modernization of the Martin-Baker Mk.1 armchair, and the main change (though not the only one!) Was the addition of an Irvin I-24 parachute that opens automatically after firing. This seemingly minor modernization significantly improved the efficiency of the entire system, especially assuming that the evacuating pilot was petty or temporarily lost consciousness. It is worth noting that in 1953 many Martin-Baker Mk.1 seats were modified to the Mk.2 standard. The seat was mounted on machines such as: English Electric Canberra, Hawker Sea Hawk, Supermarine Attacker or de Havilland Venom.
