Munitionsschlepper I (Sd.Kfz.111) is a German ammunition transporter from the Second World War. The first cars of this type entered service in 1939. The drive was provided by a single 57 HP Krupp M305 engine. The length of the vehicle was 4.02 meters and a width of 2.06 meters. The car did not have any permanent weapons.
The experience from the September campaign in 1939 clearly showed that the Pz.Kpfw I light tanks clearly differ from the requirements of the then battlefield. Thus, it was decided to systematically withdraw them from service, and use their chassis and hulls for vehicles for other purposes. One of such vehicles was the Munitionsschlepper I ammunition carrier, based on the Pz.Kpfw. And Ausf. A. Reconstruction consisted in dismantling the turret, and sometimes also fragments of the hull, and covering the central part of the vehicle with a hatch made of armor plate. As a result, the height of the car dropped to 1.4 meters. The first series of rebuilt cars - 51 pieces - entered service at the end of 1939.
