Armo 700-28 NMF Friant 1899 Protected Cruiser, France

Friant was a French armored cruiser from the beginning of the 20th century and during the First World War. The keel for this unit was laid in 1891, the launch took place in 1893, and the entry into service in the Marine Nationale - in 1895. The displacement of the ship at the time of launching was about 4,000 tons, 94 m long and 12.98 m wide. The maximum speed was 18-19 knots. The deck armament included: 6 160 mm guns, 4 100 mm guns and 4 47 mm guns.

The Friant was a unit of the cruiser class of the same name consisting of a total of three units. Ships of this type were created to supplement and later replace the Alger class units in the line. In comparison, they were slightly smaller, but had stronger main armament, with the same performance and almost identical armor. The Friant was built at a shipyard in Brest on the Atlantic, but did a large part of its service in the Mediterranean Sea. He also took part in the activities of the First World War. He was decommissioned from Marine National in 1920.
