FineMolds FB10 Nakajima Navy Special Attacker Shisei Kikka

The Nakajima J9Y Kikka (Japanese orange blossom) was a Japanese prototype low-wing jet fighter with an all-metal construction from the Second World War. The drive was provided by two Ishikawajima Ne-20 engines. The prototype flight took place in August 1945 - the machine never entered mass production. The on-board armament was to consist of two 30mm Type 5 cannons, and the machine was to carry a load of 500-800 kg bombs.

The great performance of the German Me-262 jet fighter during the first flights, and which the Japanese armed forces learned about thanks to his military attaché at the embassy in Berlin, led to the commencement of work on the Japanese equivalent of this aircraft in September 1944. In order to shorten the research and development time, elements of A6M Zeke and P1Y Ginga airplanes were used. The new plane was smaller than its German counterpart, and also did not have a triangular fuselage section. The Nakajima J9Y was powered by a copy of the German BMW 003 engine, which was designated Ishikawajima Ne-20. The machine did not take off for its first flight until August 1945 and, due to the short-term end of World War II, it never entered mass production.
