The Opel GT is a German sports car that was first presented to the public in 1968 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The main designers of the car were: Erhard Schnell and Claire Mekichan. Its serial production started in the same year and lasted until 1973. It was concentrated mainly in the city of Bochum in Germany (West Germany), and in its course about 103,500 copies of this car were produced.
Opel GT was developed and put into production in order to expand the company's commercial offer - it did not have a direct predecessor in the company's offer. Undoubtedly, it stood out from the competition with the strong styling of the body and the interior of the passenger compartment, following the contemporary trends. It uses, for example, retractable headlights or a fuel filler, which is an important element of the design of the rear part of the car. However, the floorboard was taken from the Kadett B, as were many of the suspension, braking and steering components. Two 4-cylinder engines with a capacity of 1.1 and 1.9 liters and a power of 67 and 102 HP served as the drive. It is worth adding that in the years 2007-2009 a car called Opel GT was produced again, but apart from the name and intended use, it had little to do with its predecessor.
