Trumpeter 01069 PHL-03 Multiple Launch Rocket System

PHL03 (another designation: Type 03) is a modern Chinese 300mm self-propelled unguided missile launcher. The weight of the entire set on a mobile chassis is approx. 43 tons. The maximum range it reaches ranges from 70 to 130 kilometers. The mass of the standard missile is 800 kg, and the warhead can reach 280 kg. The weapon entered service with the Chinese armed forces in 2004 or 2005. PHL03 is a Chinese, modernized version of the Russian BM-30 Smercz launcher. The NORINCO defense concern was and is responsible for development and production. It is assumed that PHL03 will be used to destroy important enemy surface targets such as airports, military concentration areas or permanent command points. Rockets fired from PHL03 can carry high-explosive, high-explosive and cluster warheads. It is also assumed that the Chinese set probably has a greater firing range than the BM-30 Smercz and - probably - a more perfect fire control system. PHL03, under the name AR2, is offered in foreign markets.
