Ardpol 72-035 PZL-48 Lampart

The PZL-48 Leopard was a Polish prototype fighter plane from the Second World War in the low wing configuration, with a full metal structure. The drive was provided by two Gnome-Rhone 14M07 engines with 730 hp each. The prototype flight was to take place in the fall of 1939, but it never took place. The machine also did not enter serial production. The on-board armament was to consist of: two 20mm wz.38D FK wz.38D cannons, four machine guns WU wz.36 cal. 7.92 mm and two 7.92 mm PWU wz.37 machine guns.

The PZL-48 Lampart was designed as a development of the PZL-38 Wilk aircraft. The changes mainly concerned the use of much more powerful engines, as well as the use of significantly reinforced on-board armament. It was assumed that the PZL-48 would have much better performance - especially maximum speed and climb - than its predecessor. It was planned to use machines of this type as airplanes dedicated primarily to combat enemy bombers and their use as attack aircraft. Due to the outbreak of World War II and the defeat of Poland in the September campaign, all work on the PZL-48 Lampart was stopped.
