The Robinson R44 Raven is a modern, lightweight multi-role helicopter that was first flown in 1990. The length of the fuselage, including the tail beam, is 9 meters with a height of 3.3 meters. The curb weight, in turn, is 657 kilograms. The drive will be provided, in the basic version, by a single Lycoming IO-540 engine with 225 HP, and the top speed is up to 240 km / h.
The Robinson R44 was developed as an evolutionary development of the R22 helicopter. Compared to its predecessor, it received a larger and more roomy hull, increased its own weight, and a new power unit with more power was mounted on it. However, the general design assumptions and the shape of the hull body did not change radically. In 2002, the Raven II variant was put into production, with a new engine and different rotor blades. Robinson R44 helicopters are operated in countries such as Estonia, the Philippines, South Africa and Hungary. They are also used in Poland in the Border Guard or the Polish Medical Air Rescue, as a training and training machine. A single machine of this type is also used by the TVN24 television station.
