9A53 Uragan-1M MLRS is the designation for a modern Russian surface-to-ground mobile missile system. It was first presented to the public in 2016. The system is placed on an 8-wheel chassis, approx. 13 meters long and 3 meters wide. The height of the complex with rockets in the marching position is approximately 3.3 meters. The truck is powered by a single YaMZ-846 engine with a maximum power of 500 HP. The top speed does not exceed 70 km / h.

The 9A53 Uragan-1M MLRS system was developed primarily for the needs of the armed forces of the Russian Federation to replace the 220 mm Uragan and 300 mm Smerch systems in the 1970s and 1980s. It is worth adding that development works on the presented system started in 1995, but were stopped relatively quickly. However, after 2000, work on the system was resumed, and from 2012 it underwent field trials and was tested by the Russian army. Finally, a system was created that was highly effective in destroying surface targets and enemy living loams. Interestingly, it can fire both 220 mm and 300 mm bullets. The range for 220 mm rockets is specified up to 34 km, and for 300 mm rockets - up to 90 km, although perhaps the latter will have a range of up to 120 kilometers. Reloading the launcher takes 15 to 20 minutes.
