SKOT (another designation: OT-64) was a Polish-Czechoslovak armored watercraft from the Cold War period. The vehicle was powered by a single 180 HP Tatra-928-14 diesel engine. It was armed with (in the 2AP version) two machine guns: KPWT caliber 14.5 mm and PKT caliber 7.62 mm placed in a rotating turret.
SKOT was created as a possibly cheap and highly mobile new armored personnel carrier for the Czechoslovak army. During the design work, the Polish side became interested in the project, which finally led to the signing of an agreement on the joint production of this vehicle. In order to reduce costs and shorten research and development work, the components of the Tatra T-138 truck were used in the SKOT truck. The SKOT turned out to be a very successful design with very good traction properties and considerable combat capabilities for this class of vehicles. He also had great off-road maneuverability. In the course of production, many variants of this vehicle were created, including: SKOT-2A (a vehicle with a BRDM-2 turret), SKOT-2AP (a version with an anti-aircraft turret developed at the Polish Military University of Technology), SKOT R-3M (command and staff car) or SKOT R-2AM (artillery command vehicle). The production of the car took place in the years 1963-1971. In total, approximately 4,500 vehicles of this type were built, of which approximately 2,500 were delivered to the Polish People's Army.
